The Van Horn Falcons overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Helias Crusaders 4-1 at Van Horn on Saturday.  With the win the Falcons punched their ticket to the Missouri Class 3 semifinals in Fenton on Friday.

 

November 6

The Van Horn Falcons couldn’t contain the unbeaten Pembroke Hill Raiders and fell in their homecoming game 44-7 at Independence All School Stadium-Norman James Field.
Van Horn opens Missouri Class 4 District playoff action on Saturday by hosting the 1-8 Raytown South Cardinals.

The Blue Tigers scored more points (27) than any other team against Summit Christian Academy than any other team this season, but it wasn’t enough as the Eagles outlasted the Tigers 43-27.
The Blue Tigers open their Missouri Class 4, District 7 playoffs on Friday by hosting the Harrisonville Wildcats.

The Truman Patriots kept their game against Lee’s Summit close in the first half, trailing only 23-18 at halftime, but the Tigers scored 27 unanswered second half points to take a 50-18 victory.
The Patriots offense was highlighted Andrew Owens’ 80-yard touchdown run.

The Bears overcame an early 14-0 deficit to pull away and defeat the Pirates 41-38.
Jaden Thomas rushed 19 times for 171 yards, Trey Sisco caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Dawson Herl and scored on a 95-yard kickoff return (his third of the season) and Dawson Herl had three rushing touchdowns for the Bears.

The Van Horn Falcons put together another sterling comeback as they erased a 4-0 Truman lead with five unanswered goals (two in the final six minutes of the first half and three in the second half) to defeat the Truman Patriots 5-4.
With the win the Falcons improve their record to 18-2.

The Truman Patriots saw their 2018 season come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Blue Springs South in a Missouri Class 4 Sectional playoff game at Adair Park.
The jaguars scored all of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Behind a strong second half running attack the Van Horn Falcons overcame a 12-7 halftime deficit and went on to a 48-12 win over the University Academy Gryphons.
On Saturday the Falcons host the Pembroke Hill Raiders in their last regularly scheduled game of the 2018 season.

The Lincoln College Prep Blue Tigers jumped out to a 20-0 lead and never looked back in a 55-6 win over the Central Academy Eagles.
Howard Brown went five-for-seven for 141 yards and rushed ten times for 119 yards and three touchdowns for the Tigers.
Darryl Williams of Lincoln Prep caught three passes for 96 yard and three scores.
On Friday the Blue Tigers take on another flock of Eagles as they host Summit Christian Academy.

The William Chrisman Bears took an early 7-0 lead but couldn’t hold on as they were defeated 29-14 at the hands of the Fort Osage Indians.
Next up for the Bears will be a home game against Belton on Friday.

After a scoreless first half the Hickman Kewpies scored six third quarter points and 15 in the fourth to claim a 21-0 win over the Truman Patriots.
Andrew Owens carried 20 times for 93 yards and caught two passes for 33 yards for the Patriots.
Truman quarterback Don Edmondson went seven-for- 14 through the air for 66 yards.
On Friday the Patriots will be at home against Lee’s Summit.

Morgan Bauman drove home 11 kills, Camryn Holloman had eight and Madison Kommell served four aces to propel the William Chrisman volleyball team to a 2-0 (25-16, 25-20) victory over the Hornets AT North Kansas City.
The Bears, who swept Northtown for the second time this season, are now 11-12 overall and 6-3 in Suburban White Conference play.
 

The Van Horn boys soccer team allowed only one William Chrisman shot the entire game as the Falcons improved their record to 15-2 and won their eighth game in a row, blasting the Bears 5-0.
Raynalso Jean-Pierre led Van Horn’s office by notching two goals.

The Lincoln College Prep Blue Tigers scored in the final seconds of the fourth quarter to earn a 14-7 victory over the University City Lions from St. Louis.
On Friday the Blue Tigers will travel to East High to take on the Central Academy Eagles.
 

The William Chrisman Bears football team went into their senior night game against Ruskin at Independence All School Stadium-Norman James Field filled with emotion as a close friend of senior running back Jaden Thomas was killed early that day, the mother of assistant coach Jeff Myers passed away a few days before an offensive lineman lost his dog.
The Bears turned their emotion into something positive in a 52-6 win over the Ruskin Eagles.
Thomas scored on a 14-yard run and caught a touchdown pass from Dawson Herl, who went 11-for-14 through the air for 244 yards and four touchdowns.
Defensive lineman Alex Atagi scored his first varsity touchdown in the first half by scooping up a punt that was blocked by Kelvyn Mason and running it in for a score.
The Bears, who are now 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the Suburban White Conference travel to Fort Osage on Friday to battle the Indians.
 

The Summit Christian Academy Eagles widened their slim lead in the fourth quarter en route to a 38-12 victory over the Van Horn Falcons.
Josh McConnell scored every point for the Eagles, including four touchdowns in the final 13 minutes.
Senior Falcon quarterback Shaun Ross completed 10 of 17 passes for 89 yards and rushed for 112 yards on 11 carries.
Davontae Telar picked up 131 yards, carrying the football 28 times for Van Horn.
Next up for the Falcons will be home game against the University Academy Gryphons on Friday.

The Truman Patriots trailed 21-13 at halftime, but the Park Hill South Panthers scored four second half touchdowns as they downed the Patriots 46-13.
Getting key blocks from Devron Rivera and Britton Robinson, Chase Schneider passed to Don Edmondson for an 86-yard touchdown for the Patriots.
On Friday Truman travels to Columbia to take on the Hickman Kewpies on Friday.

The William Chrisman and Truman boys swim teams hosted the St. Pius X Warriors and first year boys swim team Grain Valley Eagles at the Henley Aquatic Center and the rookie squad emerged with the victory with 440 points, followed by St. Pius with 236, Truman with 233 and William Chrisman with 30.
Truman claimed the first two events of the meet winning the 200 yard-medley relay with a time of 2:03:46 and Tyler Jefferies victorious in the 200-yard freestyle posting a time of 2:17:25.
Luke Rennison of the William Chrisman Bears finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:34:50.  It was his first attempt at this race.
The Truman 200-yard freestyle Relay team of Shuri Holland, Jefferies, Carson Moon and Aiden Shearer finished second in Event #9, but posted their best time of the season, finishing with a 1:52:38.
Eli Hendricks of Grain Valley won the diving competition with a score of 216.40.
Carson Moon from Truman took third, posting a 103.95 and the Patriots Dayne Rowlette claimed fourth with a score of 102.00.

The William Chrisman Bears softball game scored four runs on five hits in the bottom of the fifth inning to overcome a 6-4 deficit and take an 8-6 lead over the North Kansas City Hornets at William Chrisman.
In the top of the sixth the Hornets had runners and second and third with no outs, but the Bears turned over a triple play as William Chrisman went on to an 8-7 win.
The triple play began when Northtown’s Cay Tolbert hit a flyball out to Bears centerfielder Melia Atagi.  Atagi then threw to third base where Kennedy Goin tagged out Jaid Rose.  The Bears then got an appeal at third base claiming the base runner left the bag before Atagi made the catch.
Gracie Ussery pitched a complete game victory, giving up 11 hits, strking out five and walking three.
For the Bears Kenidy Goin went two-for-three and was hit by a pitch, Ryan Herrod had two hits and a walk and Caitlyn Gentry had two hits in three at bats.

Andrew Owens rushed for 71 yards on 21 carries, but it wasn’t enough for the Truman Patriots as they were blanked by the North Kansas City Hornets 40-0 at North Kansas City District Stadium.
The Patriots will be at home on Friday, hosting the Park Hill South Panthers.

Football Blue Springs South 30, William Chrisman 7

The Blue Springs South Jaguars scored on their opening drive of the second half to increase their lead to 14-0 and never looked back as they defeated the William Chrisman Bears 30-7 at Larry Stewart Memorial Stadium.
Osi Naur led William Chrisman rushing for 116 yards on 22 carries.  The Bears score came on a 71-yard pass from Dawson Herl to Bryan Cox.
William Chrisman will host the Ruskin Eagles on Friday at Independence All School Stadium.

Football Lincoln College Prep 36, East 14

The Lincoln College Prep Blue Tigers returned two interceptions for touchdowns in a 36-14 win over the East Bears.
Howard Brown completed three-of-six passes for 83 yards and a score and rushed eight times for 40 yards and a touchdown for Lincoln Prep.
The Blue Tigers host University City at 11:00 am on Saturday. 

Football Van Horn 47, Winnetonka 20

With the Van Horn Falcons leading Winnetonka 27-20 in the third quarter and the Griffins on the Van Horn 1-yard line, Falcon senior Isaiah Walton picked up a fumble and raced 99 yards to boost the Van Horn lead in a game eventually won by the Falcons 47-20.
The fumble recovery was one of four turnovers gained by the Falcons who also had interceptions from David Krantz, Devyn Weeks and Sean Mitchell.
Van Horn senior quarterback rushed for 190 yards in the birds’ victory.
With the win Van Horn improved its record to 5-1.
On Friday the Falcons take on the Eagles at Summit Christian Academy.

Truman Patriot swimmer Shuri Holland took forst in the 100-yard Butterfly, Carson Moon, also of the Patriots, captured the 100-yard Freestyle and Tyler Jefferies won the 100-yard Breaststroke in a boys swim meet in which Smith-Cotton claimed dual meets against Truman 185-63 and William Chrisman 211-8.
Luke Rennison of William Chrisman was victorious in the first heat of the 50-yard Freestyle.
On Wednesday the Patriots and Bears will meet the Grain Valley Eagles and St. Pius X Warriors at the Henley Aquatic Center in Independence at 4:00 pm.

Volleyball Liberty 2, Truman 0
The Truman Patriots volleyball team fell to a very good Liberty Blue Jay team 25-16, 25-15 at Truman.
With the win the Blue Jays, who have faced top national competition in a tournament in Orlando, Florida, improved their record to 21-4.

Van Horn entered the end zone ten times, including twice via the defense, en route to a 70-6 win over the Northeast Vikings.
Shaun Ross led the way for the Falcons scoring on two runs, including a 76-yard jaunt and threw for three more.
Davontae Telar scored another Van Horn touchdown on a 99-yard run.
The Falcons, who are now 4-1, host Winnetonka on Firday.
 
Football Pembroke Hill 28, Lincoln Prep 6
The Lincoln College Prep Blue Tigers saw their three-game winning streak come to an end with a 28-6 loss to the Pembroke Hill Raiders at Bryan Field.
The Blue Tigers visit Kansas City East on Friday for a battle with the Bears.
Football William Chrisman 52, Truman 20
Bears sophomore running back Osi Naur called the football 11 times for 133-yards and four touchdowns to lead William Chrisman to a 52-20 triumph against their arch-rival Truman Patriots in the 48th edition of the Wagon Wheel Trophy Game.  The Bears, who defeated Truman for the third consecutive year have a 25-23 lead in the series.
William Chrisman senior quarterback Dawson Herl completed 10-of-16 passes for 198-yards and a touchdown. 
TreVaughn caught three of Herl’s passes for a total of 97-yards and a score.  He also rushed 5 times for 77-yards and a TD.
The Patriots were led offensively by senior running back Andrew Owens who had 25 carries for 147-yards and two touchdowns, and by senior quarterback Don Edmondson who took over at quarterback when Carter Brown left the game and completed 3-of-8 passes for 48 yards.
On Friday the Bears travel to Blue Springs South and the Patriots take on the Hornets at North Kansas City.

The Van Horn Falcons scored four second-half goals as they defeated the Heritage Christian Academy Chargers 6-0 at Van Horn.
Edison Rios got a hat trick for Van Horn, with all of his goals in the second half, and Raynalso Jean-Pierre tallied a score in each half for the Falcons.  The other Van Horn goal was off the foot of Angel DeAvila.
Cooper Sumpter and Adrian Chavira each played a half in goal for the Falcons.
With the win Van Horn improved its record to 8-2.

First-year William Chrisman coach Mary Lile managed her team to a 2-0 victor as the William Chrisman Bears defeated the Van Horn Falcons 2-0.
The Bears took the first set 25-23 and the second 25-12.
Sophomore Madison Kommell served six aces and fellow 10th grader Patience Farmer had three to lead William Chrisman.
Senior Morgan Bauman had six kills to pace the Bears.

September 18 

Softball Park Hill South 6, Truman 1

Park Hill South pitcher Grace Dieleman scattered six hits and went the distance for the victory as the Panthers softball team defeated Truman 6-1 at Adair Park.
Dieleman did not get a strikeout in the win.
Myel White and Katie Sutton each went two-for-three at the plate for the Patriots with White getting a double and single and Sutton reaching on two singles.
In the loss Truman pitcher Kara Amos allowed 12 hits, striking out six and walking one.
 

Volleyball Park Hill South 2, Truman 0

The Truman Patriots lose 2 straight sets to the Park Hill South Panthers. Truman played from behind most of the first set and were unable to mount a comeback and the Panthers took the first set 25-10. Truman then came out the second set with fire in their eyes and led the Panthers for most of the set. But due to some errors the Patriots fell victim to the Panthers 25-22. The Park Hill Panthers then won the game by going up 2-0 in sets. The Panthers improve to 13-4 on the year while your Truman Patriots go to 1-8-1 on the year.

The Van Horn Falcons football team lost their first game of the season losing 21-6 to the Center Yellowjackets.
Van Horn is now 3-1.
Shaun Ross raced 65-yars for the Falcons only score.
Van Horn takes on the Northeast Vikings on Friday.

Howard Brown complete three-of-eight passes for 46 yards and a touchdown and rushed 18 times for 227 yards and a score as the Lincoln College Prep football team scored 20 second quarter points en route to a 52-29 win over the Washington Wildcats.
Next up for the Blue Tigers a home game against the Pembroke Hill Raiders on Friday.

St. Joseph Central 41, Truman 13

Carter Brown completed 13 of 26 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown but it wasn’t enough as the Truman Patriots football team dropped to 0-4 losing to the St. Joseph Central Indians 41-13 at Truman.
Donald Edmondson caught six passes for 151 yards and a score for Truman.
The Patriots travel to William Chrisman to take on the Bears in the Wagon Wheel game on Friday.

Raytown 49, William Chrisman 21

Errors of inexperience and penalties cost the Bears as the Raytown Bluejays football team took advantage of every opportunity and raced to a 49-21 win over William Chrisman.
The Bears had over 300 rushing yards as Osi Naur carried 21 times for 156 yards and a score and Bryan Cox gained 112 yards in seven attempts and a touchdown.
Next up for the Bears the Wagon Wheel game at home against Truman on Friday.

The Van Horn Falcons scored 33 second quarter points as they blasted the Butler Bears 48-6 on Saturday at Independence All School Stadium.
The Falcons, who travel across the state line to take on Bishop Ward on Friday, are 2-0 this season.

North Kansas City 41, William Chrisman 7
Simeon Leau-Fiso handed the football to Tre’Vaughn Siscon who took the opening kickoff 96 yards for a score to give the Bears a 7-0 lead 16-seconds into the opening quarter but William Chrisman gave up 27 Hornet points in the second quarter as they fell to North Kansas City 41-7.
Kelvyn Mason intercepted a pass and quarterback Dawson Herl went 8-for-18 passing for 62 yards for the Bears.
 

Football Liberty North 49, Truman 0

The Truman Patriots dropped to 0-2 in 2018 with a 49-0 loss to the Liberty North Eagles at Zaxby’s Stadium in Liberty.

Football Lincoln College Prep 42, Southeast 6

The Lincoln College Prep Blue Tigers evened their 2018 record at 1-1 as they crushed the Southeast Knights 42-6 at Bryan Field.

The Van Horn Falcons won the first set against Grandview 25-21, but could not claim another victory as the Bulldogs took the next two sets 25-17 and 25-19 to take a 2-1 victory.
The Falcons record dropped to 0-2.

Senior running back Aveion Bailey rushed for 194 years on 17 carries to lead the Blue Springs Wildcats to a 39-0 win over the William Chrisman Bears in both team’s season opener on Friday, August 24 at Billy Peve Stadium in Blue Springs.
The highlight for the Bears was a 59-yard pass from Dawson Herl to Tre Sisco.
